No wonder he fell in love with me :).
We had a long distance relationship -- he lived in NYC and I lived in Orlando. I knew he was going to ask me to marry him when I came up for a week in October. He already had the ring and we had plans to go to Mystic, CT. He told me that the ring needed to be re-sized though and it wasn't going to be ready before our trip. He said we would get it when we got back to the city on Monday and he would give it to me then.
He rented a car (people in NYC don't need cars which really freaked out my friends) and we drove to CT. We had dinner at a really romantic place the first night and I said something to him like, "Boy, too bad you don't have the ring, this would have been a perfect place to get engaged" :). We stayed in a cottage at this great little Bed & Breakfast which had a gazebo. It was freezing and he kept asking me to go out to the gazebo. Finally I did and he got down on one knee and took off the really cool ring I had gotten him in the Village a few months back and said he wanted to practice getting engaged. A train passed by right then and so he mouthed the words, "Will you marry me?" He didn't even say them.
I thought he was making fun of the whole thing and I got really mad at him and I stormed back into the cottage and started making a fire in this fireplace because I was freezing.

He came in and I wouldn't talk to him so he placed a ring on my finger. I thought he put the ring he used at the gazebo on my finger and I turned around to yell at him to stop joking around and it was MY ring. I hadn't seen it before and it was so pretty. It sparkled in the firelight. Turns out he had the ring all along, he wasn't playing with me at the gazebo after all, he was going to slip the real ring on my finger out there :).
We stopped by Mystic on our way home from Cape Cod this past Sunday and took these pictures in the gazebo, right were we were sitting that night. Who would have thought 9.5 years ago that we would be sitting in the same spot with our two beautiful boys only a few days before our 9th anniversary.

Update: Brian just reminded me I forgot the part about Belmar, NJ. He originally told me he was taking me to Jersey to get engaged. I didn't want to get engaged in New Jersey! He fooled me with that too :). Mystic was much more romantic and we stop by every time we go to the Cape.

You look beautiful in both the pictures - then and now - and what a lovely family you've made.
I hope you had a great anniversary. (I'm glad the Yankees won.) :)

Just looking back at this post and realized I am *just* pregnant with Liv in the last photo!
