This old house

The buyer for our old house wanted to close today instead of in February as planned. We have been out of the house since last February so it doesn't seem like it would be a big thing to say good-bye to it, but it was.

We went over last night to pack up the remaining things left behind by the movers in the closets and to clean up a bit. We took the kids with us. It was so neat watching Tor play with Jack in it because when we moved out he was only 5 months old.

Then today on the way to the closing we stopped by one last time to say good-bye and see it in the daylight.

There are so many memories associated with this house:

Good
  • My first house
  • Conceived Jack and Tor there
  • My water broke with Jack there
  • Brought both of my boys home from the hospital to this house
  • Jack learned to walk there
  • Jack's first birthday party was there
  • Jack learned how to walk up and down stairs there
  • Brian created and sold WIN there
  • Got my first two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels there
  • Shoveled snow for the first time there, hmmm maybe that is a con :).
  • Loved floating in the pool looking up at the trees in the summer
  • Jack had his first snowball fight there
  • Jack had his first sled ride there
  • Bought our first car together while living there, a Lexus, and celebrated that (right Brian...hehehe)
  • Great deck, used to have dinner and watch the Yankees on it in the summer
  • Grilled all the time on the deck
  • Dogs loved the yard and Duncan LOVED the pool

Bad
  • I had 6 of my 8 miscarriages while living there
  • One of them was in the tub there, Brian will never forget that image
  • Duncan got sick and died there
  • Jack fell down the stairs there, twice
  • I fell down the stairs there tearing my ACL and breaking my tail-bone
  • Maintaining the pool
  • Neighbors parked work van in front of my house all the time
  • Cassie barked at us every time we were on the deck
