Dyeing the Easter Eggs

Greek people believe that Easter Eggs should be dyed on Holy Thursday because that is the day Jesus Christ was crucified and we believe that the dye on the eggs represents his blood. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to dye the eggs on Thursday because we went to Norwalk to get mastiha to make my Easter Bread that is supposed to be made on Good Friday :). I did, however, boil the eggs on Thursday while I was making dinner, so I got it half right :).

Friday I took the kids to the mall and we ate at City Limits, shopped, and got Victor really tired so that he would fall asleep on the way home and Jack and I could dye the eggs. That was the plan and it worked brilliantly. I even got him from the car to the sofa without waking him up. Jack and I cranked the tunes in the kitchen and dyed the eggs, we had a great time.

After that I started the Easter Bread and as it was rising started dinner. By the time we finished dinner, the bread was out of the oven and the kitchen was clean. I was amazed at how much I got done in the kitchen and how clean it was after. Usually I am so tired that I clean the dinner pots and pans while the kids eat breakfast the next morning.

Jack had a lot of fun dying the eggs all by himself :).
