Here is one of our sand fleas and then Jack showing it to Daddy. Daddy had never seen one before, imagine that? Our hotel is right behind them.

I remember once as a kid going to the beach with my dad and my friend Sheila. We found dozens and dozens of sand fleas, and unfortunately for them, we brought them home. I filled up a bucket with sand, a little water, and we put all of them in there. I wanted to take them home so they could live either in, or right next to our pool, I can't remember. My dad's car smelled of dead fish for the rest of the summer. Poor things were dead by the time we made it home. Oh well.

I would take the little tiny fish (finger length) we would catch with a net home with us in a bucket with water and sand. They never lived long either, but when they died I used to pick them up by their tails and feed them to my cats. Fresh fish, what a treat!
